Plein-Air Painting

One of the things I enjoy doing is plein-air painting when the weather is suitable. Painting outdoors energizes me and keeps me focused on what's in front of me, on my canvas. I take my digital camera and snap a few pictures and then take them into my studio to use them as reference photos for later paintings.  There is nothing more soothing to my spirit than painting outdoors.

I have a nature habitat right in front of my home - its my front yard, complete with birdfeeders, a birdbath, park benches, an abundance of flowers which draws many butterflies, and the beauty and charm of the lush greenery.

Neighborly cats occasionally stroll on by to nap or watch me paint! I am surrounded by so many fine-feathered friends who sing their songs while I paint. Their melodies contribute to the peace I experience while painting.  Nothing beats plein-air painting for this artist! I find greater inspiration for my artmaking when I am outdoors in nature.

This is where I paint.
